COLUMBIA, AL… Tina Marie Riley, mother and resident of Columbia, Alabama, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 14, 2022, at her home. She was 48. A private celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Ms. Riley was born in Mount Vernon, Washington. She spent her formative childhood years in Quartzsite, Arizona and Nikiski, Alaska with her family and pups, Ginger, Rosie, and Ebony. She did her university studies at the University of Alaska Anchorage, earning her Bachelor's degree in Journalism. She moved to Rockport, Texas to work for The Rockport Pilot newspaper for 16 years. In 2014, she moved to Columbia, Alabama, and worked for The Dothan Eagle as a graphic designer. Wanting to be closer to her community, she joined the Piggly Wiggly in Blakely, Georgia, as their front-end Manager earlier this year. Ms. Riley was known for her cooking, especially her famous fried chicken and lemon pound cake. When she wasn't working for her community, you could find her walking her dog, painting, or finishing vibrant jigsaw puzzles. 

She is preceded in death by her father, Harry Thirlwell, her partner in life, David Ohlhausen, and her dearest furry companions, including Suzie the Cat and Rita the Dog, her beloved pets for many years. Leaving to cherish her memories are her daughter, Crystal Riley of San Francisco, the extended Riley family, the extended Voak family, the extended Thirwell family; her canine companion, Ruby, her feline friends, Tiny & Stella; and all the members of the communities she touched along the way. She will be dearly missed.
