Terry Elliott Yance

HALEBURG, AL… Terry Elliott Yance, a resident of Haleburg, Alabama, passed away Thursday morning July 20, 2023, at his residence. He was 72.

        The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:30 pm Sunday, July 23, 2023, in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home and Crematory, Headland, followed by a eulogy to be given by a special family friend, Dr. Perry Mobley. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Haleburg Cemetery fund c/o Mr. Tippy Smith, 10466 County Road 47, Shorterville, Alabama 36373 or to a favorite charity.

        Terry was born on July 4, 1951, in Dothan, Alabama, the son of the late Clarence Arious Yance and Edis Elliott Yance. He was a 1969 graduate of Houston County High School in Columbia, Alabama.

        Upon graduation, Terry began farming with his father. He was a partner in Yance Farms, Inc. in Haleburg until his retirement in 2004. Terry was a member of Haleburg Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon. He was an active member in professional groups, including Henry County Cattlemen’s Association, Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, and Alabama Farmers Federation. Terry and his family were honored as the Henry County Farm Family of the Year in the early 2000’s.

        Surviving relatives include his wife, Margaret Tye Yance; son, James Clarence (Jim) Yance and wife, Jessica; two grandsons, James Tye Yance and Jacob Reid Yance; brother, Ronnie Yance and wife, Charlotte; sister-in-law, Brenda Tye Weed; sister-in-law, Bobbie Tye; niece, Kris Yance Blanchard (Gary); nephew, Murray J. Yance (Jana); nieces, Michele Morris, Deborah Schooley, and Pat Tye; and many special cousins.
