SUE WHITE SIMS

HEADLAND, AL… Sue White Sims, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Thursday evening, March 30, 2023, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her family. She was 74.

          Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Pastor Jason Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

          Mrs. Sims was born in Dothan, Alabama to the late Collie Eugene White and Georgia Ann Odessa Hicks White. She lived her entire life in the Dale/Henry County area. She was a 1966 graduate of Dale County High School. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She loved being outdoors. She was an avid gardener, where she loved to grow anything. She especially loved going to the Great Smokey Mountains with her late husband “Benny”.  

          Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Benny Sims; her brother, Carl White; her sister, Melba Yeomans; and her great-granddaughter, Cassandra Mallory.

          Leaving to cherish her memories are her daughters, Sandie Sims Rigsby (Tim) of Headland, and Jeanie Sims Barbour (Charles) of Midland City; her sons, Gene Sims and J.P. Sims, both of Headland; her sisters, Josie Whaley and Linda Aman; her brother, Lafayette White; her grandchildren, Christie Mallory (Chris Hines), Aaron Mallory (Jaimee Deason), Tyler Rigsby, Justin Sims, Brittin Sims (Haley), Bailey Sims (Brooke), Georgianna Sims, Lauren deBin (Josh), Ryan Barbour (Savannah), Nicholas Sims, and Rayne Scott; and her great-grandchildren, Jordan Ducker, Aiden Rigsby, June deBin, Carlie deBin, Journey deBin, Adalyn Sims, Magnolia Sims, Amelia Sims, Benny Sims, Elizabeth Sims, Everleigh Sims, and Haiston Hayes; her brothers-in-law, Wayne Sims (Paula) and Charles Sims (Sheila); and her several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

          Serving as active pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.
