STEPHEN (STEVE) VERLIS RENEAU
KINSEY, AL. Stephen (Steve) V. Reneau, a longtime resident of Kinsey, Alabama, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 73.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Dr. Jerry Grandstaff officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Kinsey, Alabama. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. in the Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel. At other times, the family will be at Mr. Reneau’s home in Kinsey.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Kinsey Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. c/o Donna Trippe, Treasurer, 948 J W Rich Rd., Kinsey, Alabama 36303.
Mr. Reneau was born in Dothan, Alabama, son of the late Verlis Euell Reneau and Ava Ethridge Reneau. He moved to his current home in Kinsey in 1971. Mr. Reneau worked for over 40 years in the automotive industry as a parts specialist and manager. He worked for Adam’s Yamaha, Cook’s Brothers, and eventually retired from Mike Schmitz Automotive Group in Dothan after 25 years of dedicated service. Mr. Reneau was a long-standing member of the Henry County Rescue Unit and served in various leadership positions. He was a member of the Kinsey Baptist Church. Mr. Reneau was preceded in death by his parents, Verlis Euell Reneau, Ava Ethridge Reneau and niece Lindsay Brooke Whatley.
Surviving relatives include sister, Jan Becnel (Wade) of Dothan, Al; brother, Charles Reneau (Debbie) of Kinsey, Al; nephew, Jason Reneau (Candice) of Kinsey, Al; nieces, Scarlett English (Jason McDowell) of Richmond Hill, Ga; Kimberly Grandstaff (Chris) of Headland, Al: four great-nieces: Alexis Grandstaff, Headland, Al; Reagan Grandstaff, Headland, Al: Reece Reneau, Kinsey, Al; Brooklyn English, Richmond Hill, Ga; great-nephew: Noah Reneau, Kinsey, Al
Serving as active pallbearers will be Wallace Arnold, Bobby Clemmons, Ray Ethridge, Charles Peterson, Robert Quattlebaum, and Tony Strickland.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Mr. Mickey Williams, Mr. Reneau’s neighbor, for his untiring and compassionate support of the Reneau family for over 20 years. Additionally, the family would like the acknowledge the outstanding support Centerwell Home Health and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care shown to Mr. Reneau and his family. Finally, the family would like to thank Dr. Russell Bedsole for going above and beyond in caring for Mr. Reneau.
