SALLIE RONEY BRANNON
NEWVILLE, AL… Sallie Roney Brannon, a resident of Newville, Alabama, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 20, 2023, at her home. She was 95.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. (CST) Friday, June 23, 2023, in the Newville Baptist church with Reverend Norman C. Simmons, Reverend Hugh Kirkland, Reverend Nathan Poe, and Reverend Nathan Kasper officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. (EST) Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M. (CST) Friday June 23, 2023, in the church sanctuary. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the ENCORE Scholarship Fund at Vivian B. Adams School, 2047 Stuart Tarter Road, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
Mrs. Brannon was born in Newville, to the late John Webb Roney and Trudie Stephens Roney. She was a 1947 graduate of Newville High School and attended Riley Business College. She retired as office manager from Dothan Oil Mill Company - Seed Division in Headland. She was a member of Newville Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Lee Brannon; her sisters, Martha Roney Shelley, Evelyn Roney, and Margaret Roney; and her brothers, Jack Roney, Joe Roney, and John Roney.
Leaving to cherish her memories are her two daughters, Susan Brannon Owens (Sidney), Nancy Brannon Haney (Bob); her son, Thomas A. Brannon (Chrissi); her six grandchildren, Erin Owens Stevens (Brock), Ryan Owens, Katie Haney Kaspar (Nathan), Heather Haney, Madison Brannon, and Miles Morgan Brannon; her great-grandchildren, Carter Stevens, Reagan Stevens, Preston Owens Stevens, Brannon Bradshaw Stevens, Hadley Brannon, and William Kasper; and her several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Phil Shelley, Lee Murphy, Matthew Hughes, Steve Brannon, Tim Slater, Jerome Thomas, Will Pitchford, and Joe Ausley.
