RAY C. CARROLL
HILTON, GA… Ray C. Carroll, a resident of Hilton, GA, passed away early Sunday morning, February 27, 2022, at his home. He was 62.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Reverend Eddie Walton Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. At other times the family will be at 339 South Railroad Street, Newville, Alabama 36353. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to a favorite charity in Ray’s honor.
On March 26, 1959 Ray Charles (Bowman) Carroll was born in Headland, Alabama to the late Willie Raymond Carroll and Neva Jean Morris. Ray was the oldest of 3 boys and the 3rd of 9. 1 brother preceded him in death, Bill Carroll; and 2 sisters, Willie Jean Carroll and Sharon Bennett. Ray Carroll confessed Christ at an early age, where he was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Newville, Alabama. Ray attended Headland High School where he was involved in sports, especially football, where he was a strong player. After graduating high school, he enlisted into the United States Army where he served 11½ years. Ray worked construction where he was a metal building erector, doing something he loved to do. Ray was united in Holy Matrimony to his wife, Vickie Gurley, whom he was married to for 30 years. He passed away peacefully at his home in Blakely, Georgia with his wife and grandchildren by his side.
He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy, his children and step-children, Vyanna Lincoln (Matthew) of Savannah, GA, Ray Carroll, Jr. of St. Augustine, TX, Nazlee Citizen (Donald) of Houston, TX, William Bradford of Tampa, FL, and Latoya & Latonya Copeland of Blakely, GA, Derrick Carroll (Rosalyn) of Augusta, GA; his brother Ronnie Carroll (Mary) of Virginia; his sisters, Tammy Carroll of Headland, AL, Patricia Rhodes of Newville, AL, Gloria Bennett of Newville, AL, and Debra Carroll of Ozark, AL; his mother-in-law, Rosa Gurley of Tampa, FL; his grandchildren, Ke’Andre, Antonio, Davarius, William III, Dy’Nasia, Nicholas, Rayne, Detreveon, Da’nya, Maddison, Donald, Jr., Kalania, and Marcell; his great-grandchild, Navell; his brothers-in-law, Rickey Gurley (Felicia) of Tampa, FL, Nathan Gurley (DeAngela) of Katy, TX, Saderia Gurley of Tallahassee, FL, and Saleria Gurley (Ceasler) of Tampa, FL, his special God children, Bianea Carroll, Maddison Kelly, Destini Rhodes.
Serving as active pallbearers will be LaRon Reaves, Corey Walker, Chris Morris, Antonio Kelly, Michael Rhodes, and William Earl Rhodes.
