NINA JO ETHRIDGE HOWARD RABE
DOTHAN… Nina Jo Ethridge Howard Rabe, a resident of the Kinsey, Alabama, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, January 20, 2024, from a long battle with Parkinsons Disease, at Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 89.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 22, 2024, in the Worship Center at First Baptist Church – Headland with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Headland, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Rabes honor to the First Baptist Church, 301 East Church Street, Headland, Alabama 36345.
Mrs. Rabe was born and reared in the Kinsey-Dothan area. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Alonza Ethridge and Mattie Lou McArdle Ethridge. She graduated from Newville High School. She worked and retired after serving for eleven years as a CDC Nutritionist at First Baptist Church – Headland. She was also a faithful member of the First Baptist Church -Headland and member of the Marilyn E. McClendon Sunday School Class.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Roy Howard and Leslie Rabe; her brothers, Orlan Ethridge, James Ethridge, and Monroe Ethridge, all of Dothan, Alabama; her sisters, Willodine Stokes, of Dothan, Charlie Nell Rogers & Myra Scruggs, both of Pensacola, Florida, Betty McNab, of Niceville, Florida, and Ava Reneau, of Kinsey.
Leaving to cherish her memory is her sister, Doris Owens, of Headland; one niece who was like a sister, Sharlene Cox, of Crestview, Florida; her sister-in-law, Annice Ethridge; and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Scruggs; her special caregivers, Mary Mertins and Cindy Capps; several nieces and nephews also survive her.
The family would like to thank Hall 3 nurses and assistants from Enterprise Health & Rehab for all of the love and special care they have given “Nana” over the past four years. You are all angels and will never be forgotten.
