NINA JO KILLINGSWORTH
HEADLAND.… Nina Jo Killingsworth, a resident of the Tumbleton Community of Henry County near Headland, AL passed away Friday, just before noon, May 15, 2020, at a Dothan hospital. She was 92.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. Wright Funeral Home & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. There will be no formal visitation, but the family encourages anyone who wishes to sign a register and attend the viewing without the family present, may do so at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory from 12:00 until 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 16, 2020.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions be made to the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 9716 County Road 99, Headland, Alabama 36345.
Mrs. Killingsworth, daughter of the late Grover Cleveland “Pomp” Shelley and Queen Bradshaw Shelley, was born October 19, 1927. She lived all of her life in Tumbleton. She retired from WexTex in 1999. She worked at First Baptist Church of Headland CDC, where she found her “calling” as an extra granny to many children in her care. She retired at age 83. She loved her family unconditionally and will be missed. She was a talented seamstress, quilter, cook and loved flowers. Mrs. Killingsworth was a member of the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member for many years.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Masden Killingsworth; her brothers, Cleveland Shelley, Jack Shelley, Earl Shelley, and Major Shelley; and her sister, Ida Shelley Wilson.
Leaving to cherish her memories are her children, Alicia Williams (Bob), Russell Killingsworth (Diane), Joyce Granberry, all of Headland; her sister, Dot Hardy; and her sister-in-law, Janelle Shelley; her grandchildren, Jennifer Brannon Holder (Adam Smith), Kate Brannon-Tillery (Richard), Jason Granberry (Crystal), Justin Granberry, Clay Killingsworth (Michelle), Gina Eddins, Amy McMarlin (Clint), Michael Stokes, Hollie Faucheux, Savannah Peters (Robert), Kane Williams Hale (Mike), Kelli Williams Murphy (Mark), Joe P. Williams; her great-grandchildren, Emily & Kylie Holder, Kayla Granberry, Brayden Tillery, Avery, Carly, Molly and Hayden Killingsworth, Garrett, Gavin Gunter, Cadence, Grant & Carolyn McMarlin, Landon Carruthers, Hannah Phillips, Presley Faircloth, Kayla & Tyler Hale, Sydney, Carly & Colin Murphy; and her many nieces and nephews.
