DOTHAN… Natalie Espy Woods, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024 after a long courageous battle with Crohn’s disease. 

Born July 15, 1971, Natalie graduated from Headland High School and attended Auburn University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Natalie dedicated much of her life to service and community. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of The Nativity in Dothan where she enjoyed many close friendships.

Natalie was devoted to Auburn University, travel, and of course, fashion. Natalie’s close friends knew when she wasn’t planning a trip or traveling, she was enthusiastically watching Auburn football and basketball.

Beyond her activities and accomplishments, Natalie will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, warm smile, sense of humor, natural wit, and fierce loyalty to her Lord and Savior, family, and friends. Her role as family historian will be missed greatly. Her recall of family facts, dates and events was unparalleled. Her legacy of love, integrity, and passion for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. 

Natalie is preceded in death by her mother, Mila Espy Woods; and grandparents, Major W. and Edith Vann Espy and James Earl and Helen Goss Woods. She is survived by her father, William E. “Billy” Woods (Suzanne); brother, William Espy Woods, Senior; sisters, Valerie Espy Woods Smith (Mike) and Lily Zuye Elise Woods; nieces, Hillary Elizabeth Cherry (James); Emily Caroline Woods (Johnathan Marshall); Mila Madelyn “Maddy” Smith; and Ella Katherine Woods; nephew, William Espy Woods, Junior; great-nieces Hattie Everly and Evie James Cherry; as well as beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Please join us for a graveside service to celebrate Natalie’s life Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 11:00am at Headland Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive guests at 10:00am prior to the service. The Reverend Peter Wong will be officiating and close friend Robert Jason Thomas will eulogize Natalie’s life. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory will be in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers will be Samual Richard Vann, III; Mark Carroll Espy, Junior; Miles Vann Espy, Senior; Major Allen Espy; William Zachary Parker; Donald Jeffrey McClendon; Matthew Robert McClendon; Michael Lawrence Smith; Michael McClendon Smith; Samuel Johnson Smith; Judd Curry Woods; James Curry Woods; Frances Milton Jessup, III; Michael Craig Scarbrough; Christopher James Mann; Carter James Mann; William Dowling Mann and Andrew Harold Armstrong, Junior. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Headland Methodist Cemetery Fund, 103 West King Street, Headland, Alabama 36345. 

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Natalie’s inner circle of family and friends who played a most vital role in her life. Through your numerous prayers, visits, errands, chauffeuring and daily caretaking you all kept Natalie in the comfort of her home throughout her illness. We love and appreciate each one of you more than you will ever know.
