ABBEVILLE. J.W. "Dick" Wilson, a resident of Abbeville, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 1, 2020 at a Dothan hospital. He was 89.
A complete obituary with a list of the survivors will be announced later by Wright Funeral Home & Crematory.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, February 3, 2020, at Pilgrims Rest Freewill Baptist Church with Reverend George Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at the church before the service.
Mr. Wilson was born in Abbeville, Alabama to the late Oscar Wilson and Louise Cummings Wilson. He was a retired truck driver. Dick was a member of the Pilgrims Rest Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Money; and his brothers, Victor Wilson, Rodney Wilson, Roy Wilson, and Shell Wilson.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Linda Ann Wilson, of Abbeville; his daughter, Rhonda Wilson Harrison (Scotty), of Grimes, AL; his sisters, Margaret Kirkland, Peggy Payne, and Patsy Knight; a brother, Steve Wilson; his grandchildren, Toni Avery, Tracy Avery, and Justin Harrison (Natalie); three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
