REVEREND JOSEPH NATHANIEL FLOWERS
HEADLAND, AL… Reverend Joseph Nathaniel Flowers, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Thursday morning, November 9, 2023, at a Dothan hospital. He was 74.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, with Reverend Delvick McKay and Darryl Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, November 17, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory.
Reverend Flowers was born in Coffee County, Alabama, to the late Nathaniel Flowers and Nancy Coleman Flowers. He lived his younger years in the Shiloh Community. He graduated from New Brockton High School, followed by seminary school at Selma and Stanford University. Besides his ministerial duties, Reverend Flowers was a skilled professional working as an Aviation Maintainer at Pemco Aeroplex, an assembler at Dorsey Trailers, and a successful business owner of Flowers Remodeling. Reverend Flowers was a minister for forty-eight years and pastored for thirty-eight years at Church of God by Faith in New Brockton, Alabama, Greater Bethlehem in Midland City, Alabama, and New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Troy, Alabama. He was member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ola Mae Goosby, Bessie Mae Sanders, and Rosie Pearl McLeod; and his brothers, Willie Flowers, John Flowers, and Sylvester McLeod.
Leaving to cherish his memories is his devoted wife of thirty-eight years, Mary Elizabeth Flowers; his four sons, Gerald Flowers (Natasha), Joe Nathan Flowers, Jr. (Sheryl), Jarrod Dozier (Leslie), and Johnny Mack Flowers (Vonetta);his two daughters, Joanna Slater (Chris) and Jasmine Flowers; his sisters, Lee Etta Flowers, Elizabeth Martin (Tony), Janelle Oliver, Louise Williams (Willie), Jeanett Glanton, Odessa Rieves, and Betty Jett; his brothers, Leander Flowers (Yvette), Danny Cole, Love McLeod and Johnny B. McLeod; his sisters-in-law, Joann Flowers, Mary Reeves, Karen Vickers, and Barbara Hollis (Sam); his brothers-in-law, Frank Vickers (Faye), Nathaniel Vickers (Cyrenthia), and Daniel Vickers; his nineteen grandchildren; his eighteen great-grandchildren; his four god-children; and his many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Derrick Smith, Charlie Sanders, Tony Wilkerson, Travis Reeves, Jr., Tim Fleming, and Eric Vickers.
