JOHN FRANK CARTER
ABBEVILLE, AL… John Frank Carter, a resident of the Screamer Community near Abbeville, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at his home. He was 83.
A private graveside service was held 3:00 P.M. Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery, with Reverend Steve Nolin officiating. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of the arrangements. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
Contributions may be made in Mr. Carter’s honor to the Liberty Methodist Church, 341 CR-92, Abbeville, Alabama 36310.
Mr. Carter was born in the Screamer Community of Henry County, Alabama, to the late Charles Thomas Carter and Rose Cotton Carter. He lived his entire life in Screamer and was a graduate of Abbeville High School. He worked in the timber industry with his family’s business, Carter Pulp Wooding & Timber and later with Southwest Wood Products. He was a member of the Liberty Methodist Church in Screamer.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Gay Carter.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Sherry Annette Carter; his daughter, Andrea Carter Kennedy; his son, Michael K. “Keith” Carter (Susan); his four grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
