NEWVILLE, AL… Joan Lisenby Holland, a resident of Newville, Alabama, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 10, 2022, at a Dothan hospital. She was 84.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Union Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Guy Causey and Pastor Jim Cordes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Holland was born near Capps, Alabama on a farm, and attended Fellowship Church, then Union Springs Baptist Church for 60 plus years, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She worked at Westpoint Pepperell for 10 years, and then at Henry County Health Department for 25 years, where she retired. There she was selected as manager of the year. She was married to the love of her life for 65 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Lisenby and Alice Wilson Lisenby; her sister, Lucy Faye Burkett; her brother; Billy Paul Lisenby; her sister-in-law, Annie Laura Forrester
Leaving to cherish her memories is her husband, Marvette Holland; her daughter, Debra Kay Luther of Newville, AL; her grandchildren, Joshua D. Luther and Christen L. Luther, both of Newville, AL; her sister, Mary Worrell (Donald) of Midland City, AL; her brothers, Harmon Lisenby (Darlene) of Birmingham, AL and Carl Lisenby, Jr. of Abbeville, AL; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Burkett of Headland, AL; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Charlie Tew, Keith Murray, Terry Jones, Kenneth Burkett, Gene Arnold, and Sam Jones. Serving as a honorary pallbearer will be Freddie Brannon.
