JERRY L. DESHAZO
HEADLAND, AL… Jerry L. DeShazo, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Monday evening, January 10, 2022, unexpectedly at home. He was 79.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 14, 2022 at New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Youth Fund, 9716 County Road 99, Headland, Alabama 36345.
Mr. DeShazo was born in Headland, Alabama to the late Horace B. DeShazo and Mary Lois Sanders DeShazo. Jerry was a 1960 Graduate of Headland High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. Mr. DeShazo lived his entire life and farmed in the Headland, Alabama area. He was a member of the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church.
Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister, Jan Causey; a sister-in-law, Barbara DeShazo; and a brother-in-law, Joe Phil Armstrong.
Leaving to cherish his memories is his wife of 55 years, Wanda Armstrong DeShazo; his sons, Michael DeShazo (Traci) and Mark DeShazo (Kerri); his daughter, Wendy Strickland (Neil); his grandchildren, Payton DeShazo (Victoria), Paige DeShazo Richburg (Riley), and Evan DeShazo; his sister, Sandra Prachyl (Mike); his brothers, Izie DeShazo (Cindy), Mickey DeShazo (Mary), and Kim DeShazo; his sister-in-law, Priscilla Armstrong; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Payton DeShazo, Riley Richburg, Evan DeShazo, Joe Paul Armstrong, Joe Burdeshaw, Trey Scott, and Thomas Pitchford.
