Glenda Geiger McInnis
Glenda Geiger McInnis, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away early Monday morning, March 10, 2025. She was 82. For the last 62 years, she and her beloved husband, A.A. “Bud” McInnis resided on Woodham Road, where they were part of a very special and sweet fellowship of family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Dr. Cecil Sanders, Jr. and Chaplain Ernie Gray officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 5-7 pm at Wright Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Headland.
Glenda was born in Dothan, Alabama to the late Robert Clyde and Lillie Pearl Bruce Geiger. She was a Class of 1961 graduate of Dothan High School. For many years, she served as the office manager of Medical Specialties in Dothan. Her tremendous organizational skills, compassion and attention to detail kept that office in perfect working order.
Glenda was totally committed in her faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Headland where she faithfully attended the Barnabas Sunday School class. She founded TLC Ministries to care and bring comfort to shut-ins and other elderly in her church.
Glenda also enjoyed all holidays, especially Christmas. She took great pride in decorating her home for each and every holiday. She loved to cook and was a gracious hostess for countless meals enjoyed by family and friends. Fish fries complete with hush puppies and lemon pies were her specialty. Her homemade cinnamon rolls were considered the “world’s best”.
In her spare time, Glenda enjoyed working in her flower garden, planting dozens of varieties of day lilies with her most favorite being the vanilla fluff. She thoroughly enjoyed playing cards like Bridge, Rook, and Hand and Foot and she was a fierce competitor. There were not too many people that could beat Glenda at any game! Over the years Glenda and Bud shared the love of fishing whether on Lake Eufala, the St. John’s River or all points in between.
Glenda’s biggest joys in life were her grandchildren, Gracie, Claire, Cal and Derrah, she was their most-cherished “Gigi”. Gigi and Daddy Mac created unforgettable childhood memories with four-wheelers, bicycles, blow-up swimming pools and always trips to Chuck E. Cheese. Little sleep and many adventures were just part of being at “Gigi’s” house.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jeanene Stremski, Debbie Geiger Byrd, and her brother Bobby Geiger.
Surviving relatives include her husband, A.A. “Bud” McInnis; son Scott McInnis (Michelle); daughter Karen McGory (Jim); brother Jimmy Geiger (Suzanne); four grandchildren (Glenda) Gracie McGory, Claire McGory, Cal McInnis and Derrah McInnis; brother-in-law, Ken Stremski; sisters-in-law Sarah Walters and Charlotte Kelly; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to graciously thank the Southern Care Hospice nurses and staff, the staff of Henry County Health and Rehab and a special sitter, Mary Carroll.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Headland’s Bridge to Tomorrow Fund
