DONALD “DON” G. HUTTO
ABBEVILLE.… Donald “Don” G. Hutto, a resident of the Screamer Community of Abbeville, formerly of Headland, passed away Sunday evening, April 12, 2020. He was 68.
Due to the COVID-19 Virus, a family graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 16, 2020, in the Headland United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Misty Barrett officiating. Anyone wanting to attend the service will be allowed, as long as the CDC COVID-19 social gathering guidelines are met. There will be a public address system set up so it can be broadcast with everyone sitting in their vehicles to listen. The family would ask that anyone who wants to sign a register and attend the viewing without the family being present (because of CDC Covid-19 guidelines) may do so from 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Tuesday and Wednesday April 14 & 15, 2020 in the Dogwood Room at the Wright Funeral Home & Crematory.
In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to the Clint Hutto Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 157 Headland, Alabama 36345.
Mr. Hutto was born in Ft. Deposit, Alabama to the late Paul Lamar Hutto and Lillian Merle Steed Hutto. Don was a 1969 graduate of Abbeville High School and also a Troy University graduate where he received a business degree. He also received an A&P license from Alabama Aviation College in Ozark, Alabama. He was a member of the Headland United Methodist Church. He was a past member of the Headland Kiwanis Club and also the past president of the Headland Chamber of Commerce. He was an active Boy Scout Leader when his sons were in the Boy Scouts. Don worked with Alpha Steel and Wiregrass Bank and retired from Michelin Dothan Manufacturing. He loved working and restoring cars, fishing, and spending time with his family. He loved his sons and his granddaughters were his heart.
Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by a son, Clinton Hutto and his father-in-law, Robert Smith.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife of forty-six years, Debbie Smith Hutto of Abbeville; Justen Hutto (Tiffany Smith) of Headland, and Cade Hutto (Allison) of Grey, Tennessee; his granddaughters Isla and Margo Hutto of Grey, Tennessee; his sisters, Helen Blankenship (Doug) of Dothan, Patricia Prevatt (Ken) of Dothan; his brother, Lamar Hutto (Mary) of Shorterville; his mother-in-law, Joyce Smith of Headland; his brothers-in-law, Bobby Smith, Phillip Smith, and Paul Smith (Dale) all of Headland; several nieces and nephews; a God-daughter, Sabrina Neiswanger and her parents, Michael and Carmen Neiswanger; a host of good friends including Bruce and Yulonda Nesiba, and Danny and Charlene Riley.
