KINSEY, AL….Ava Ethridge Reneau, a resident of Kinsey, Alabama, died Sunday, April 23, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 98.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 27, 2023, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church - Headland with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Kinsey, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church of Headland prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at her home, 1711 Roney Rd. in Kinsey.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Kinsey Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. c/o Donna Trippe, Treasurer, 948 J W Rich Rd., Kinsey, Alabama 36303.
Mrs. Reneau was born and reared in Kinsey, Alabama, daughter of the late Charles Alonza Ethridge and Mattie Lou McArdle Ethridge. She moved to Roney Rd in Kinsey in 1971. Mrs. Reneau retired from Ansell, Inc. in Dothan. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland. Mrs. Reneau was preceded in death by her husband, Verlis Euell Reneau, granddaughter, Lindsay Brooke Whatley, four sisters, Willodine Stokes, Charlie Nell Rogers, Betty McNab, Myra Scruggs, three brothers, Orlan Ethridge, James Ethridge and Monroe Ethridge.
Surviving relatives include sons, Steve Reneau, Kinsey, Al; Charles Reneau (Debbie) of Kinsey, Al; daughter, Jan Becnel (Wade) of Dothan, Al; three grandchildren; Jason Reneau (Candice) of Kinsey, Al; Scarlett English (Jason McDowell)of Richmond Hill, Ga; Kimberly Grandstaff (Chris) of Headland, Al: five great-grandchildren: Alexis Grandstaff, Headland, Al; Noah Reneau, Kinsey, Al; Reagan Grandstaff, Headland, Al: Reece Reneau, Kinsey, Al; Brooklyn English, Richmond Hill, Ga; three sisters, Doris Owens, Abbeville; Nina Rabe, Enterprise; Sharlene Cox, Crestview, Fl.; brother-in-law Kenneth Scruggs, Pensacola, Fl; sister-in-law, Annice Ethridge, Dothan.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Vern Becnel, Michael Brannon, Jim Buchanan, Ellis Golson, Charles Peterson, James Reneau. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Marilyn McClendon Sunday School Class.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Gentiva Hospice for the loving care shown to Mrs. Reneau and her family.
